New blog, new beginnings

Posted on Jul 4, 2012 in News, Pay It Forward Requests

So here we are at the start of a new venture and my first introduction to blogging (if I discount my extensive travelogue). So let me start by saying that I make no claims to an expert on cards and payments, but I have hovered around the industry for the last seven years and am lucky to know  some of the most forward thinking, inspirational and opinionated people in the industry.  So by osmosis and my own perspective as a consumer, I have enough views to keep this blog going for a while.

I find myself in many meetings in the course of my networking with industry leaders drawing me diagrams showing me who sits where in the payments eco-system.  Keeping on top of this is in itself pretty challenging as there are so many overlapping initiatives making similar claims to be ‘the first’ or ‘the best’ and technology is constantly pushing the boundaries of what is possible.  As a marketer and business developer by background, I am also fascinated by the value proposition and consumer benefits presented by this changing landscape.

So what will I aim to do via this blog?  Well, firstly I want to keep you up to date with what we are planning here at the Payments Forward Network.  I really welcome your ideas for debates and briefings and your feedback generally.  I will also use this blog to explore some of the key topics and issues in the industry, especially looking at some of the ‘pay it forward’ themes we talk about on the Pay It Forward page.  I will also post requests for support as I receive them from some of the non-profit organisations that we will support via the Payments Forward Network.

Here’s to new beginnings…. I hope you will support the Network by spreading the word and commenting on our blog and events.  We look forward to seeing you at our events through the Autumn.
