Pay It Forward Request: Laptops needed by pfeg

Posted on Sep 2, 2012 in News, Pay It Forward Requests

The Payments Forward Network is working with pfeg (the Personal Finance Education Group) as we believe that financial literacy is the building block to a stable society and economy. If you are not already familiar with this national charity which helps teachers to develop financial capability in young people, I’d recommend you take a look at their work at www.pfeg.org.  They are always looking for support and funding.  Their new Chief Executive, Tracey Bleakley has passed on a number of Pay It Forward requests and I thought I’d share the first one.  This may be an easy way to not only pay it forward but also recycle and repurpose stripped down IT equipment that you have now replaced.

“We are looking for ideally 16 laptops (but any number would be useful) as we currently have none which makes it hard to give presentations and go to meetings. Our IT manager has proposed the following minimum spec: Windows 7 (32 or 64 bit), memory 4Gb, Intel i5 or i7 processor 3.1GHz, Hard disk – 200Gb, Network Connection “Gigabit” (if not wireless), On board sound, On board video – with ability for HD (or almost) quality, 4 x USB ports (for connecting mouse/keyboard/memory stick etc) and a DVD/CD drive.

He also tells me that our flat-screen monitors are also nearing their end of life and said that if anyone has any spare 20 inch flat-screen monitors, they would also be greatly received.

Finally, we are after a wireless gateway (he tells me this is called a NETGEAR RangeMax NEXT Wireless Access Point and a NETGEAR Universal Wi-Fi Range Extender).  To complete the request, we wouldn’t say no to  any obsolete tablets as they would be made great use of!”

Please get in touch with me  here to let me know if you can help with some or all of this request and I’ll connect you with the relevant person.
