Background to the Payments Forward Network.

Payments Forward is a networking forum bringing together senior professionals from across the payments world to discuss and debate the issues and future developments within the industry. The network also finds ways to ‘pay it forward’ and put something back into the community.

Payments Forward organises a series of small debates, breakfasts, dinners and networking events that will get you thinking, questioning and planning for the future. Our influential and leadership-level advisory team steer us towards the topics that the industry need to be discussing.

Our research has told us that there is a need for debate at a senior level and most senior executives do not have time to attend a whole day or two day conference, they feel that events organised by their partners are often too focused on the sales pitch. So the Payments Forward Network fills a gap providing:

  • the opportunity to forge and reconnect with industry peers and meet new players in the payments arena
  • an independent forum where you help set the agenda
  • obtain insight into the marketplace and promote dialogue between businesses
  • discuss and debate some of the burning issues for the industry for an hour or two
  • a way to support social and community needs through your skills, time, money and ideas

Types of Events

There are about eight events through the year and all of them (except for the dinners) are hosted at our Moorgate based sponsor, tier one law firm, Addleshaw Goddard. We organise:

  • Afternoon Tea Debates – join us at 5pm for afternoon tea, cake and sandwiches (we may even take the crusts off!) and then participate in a timely debate, ask your questions to the panel and give your views. All of this followed by some drinks and nibbles before you head home musing which side of the debate you most believed.
  • Breakfast Briefings – get out of the right side of the bed to come and hear experts briefing on the latest thinking on an issue impacting the payments industry, from regulatory, geographical, technological or commercial.
  • Pay It Forward Dinners – these invite-only dinners will take place in a private room of a lovely City-based restaurant and form part of our Pay It Forward agenda. This is an opportunity for industry leaders to discuss where and how the payments industry could do more to support groups, communities and individuals who are excluded, under-served or impacted by the retail banking and payments system.
  • Speed Networking Drinks – make and renew contacts over drinks and canapés twice a year. This is an event for everyone who is too polite to move on from a conversation at an event or for those of you who are a little on the shy side, or for new players into the payments arena who want to find out who’s who. It’s especially for those of you who tend to hang out with the same old crowd at every event you go to – we take all the effort out of working the room.
